CARRYING ON THE LEGACY IN LAW
Michael's passion for law was inspired by his dad - Jim Dunn - and granddad - Russell Dunn. Russell diligently represented clients for decades, and Jim was a highly respected Attorney and counselor in the North Texas legal community for over forty years.
Knowing from a young age that he wanted to be an Attorney, Michael attended and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in History. He earned a scholarship from Texas Tech University School of Law where he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence law degree. Michael "booked" two courses during law school (received the highest grade) and was on the Dean's Honor List.
During law school, Michael was fortunate to clerk with the Robinson & Carmody Law Firm. William "Bill" Carmody, a founding partner, is one of the premier trial attorneys in the United States. He has represented clients such as Uber, Wework, and General Electric in cases where hundreds of millions of dollars were at stake, and he has recovered billions of dollars in judgments and settlements for his clients. As a law clerk for Bill, Michael was fortunate to be able assist him in preparing cases and then watch Bill skillfully try cases to a jury. It was invaluable training that forged Michael's success as an Attorney.
Michael has successfully recovered millions of dollars for clients who have suffered severe injuries due to someone's negligence or who had been denied insurance benefits from an insurance company. He has also represented hundreds of clients with the sale, purchase, or lease of their home, business, commercial space, or retail venture. He has also represents clients with their real estate investments, such as - commercial buildings, apartment complexes, multi-family properties, raw land, mobile home/rv parks, income-producing properties, office buildings, strip centers, convenience stores, retail spaces, hotels/motels, business ventures - whether in Texas or across the United States.
Michael is one of the very select few Attorneys in Texas that is a Licensed Real Estate Broker who also litigates real estate matters in court. When things get tough and the possibility of legal action is on the horizon, Michael has the extensive experience required to go to court to protect his client's interests. This is a huge asset to Michael's clients as most real estate attorneys are mere transactional attorneys - they don't fight for their clients in court and aren't comfortable in front of a judge or jury. After a big win in a jury trial, several jurors requested to visit with Michael. They congratulated Michael on the passion and professionalism with which he represented his client. Reaching out to shake Michael's hand, one juror said "you were a Bulldog in the courtroom; I want you on my side if I ever need and attorney!".
